PRINTER DESCRIPTION
The Datamax Advanced E-4305A is part of the E-Class III family of "4 inch" direct thermal (DT) or thermal transfer (TT) desktop label printers.
The 300dpi E-4305A has a maximum print speed of 5ips.
All models come with automatic switching between Datamax DPL, Zebra EPL and Zebra ZPL ensuring wide compatibility with label printing applications.
All have USB, Serial, Parallel and Ethernet connectivity, and have adjustable label sensors to cater for a wide range of labels.
Some models have tear-off paper handling, others come with facilities to dispense single labels and part peeled labels, and alternatively some come with a cutter.
Accessories and upgrades include a peeler kit, an external media supply for large rolls of labels on 76mm (3") cores, a media guide for fan-fold labels, and a mobile power unit for cart based applications.

DATAMAX ADVANCED E-4305A
The E-4305A is a 5ips 300dpi 4.4" wide desktop label printer with a maximum printable width of 4.16".
It comes in thermal transfer (TT) and direct thermal (DT) models.
The thermal transfer models are in fact (DT/TT) as they print on both direct thermal and thermal transfer labels.
The direct thermal models only print on direct thermal media.
Some configurations of the E-4305A come with a mobile power supply which enables the printer to be used on a cart.
The mobile power supply can be added as an accessory: Mobile Power Supply.

CONNECTING TO THE E-4305A
The E-4305A printer can be connected using USB, Serial and Ethernet cables.
WHAT LABEL STATIONERY CAN BE USED?
The label stationery used by the E-4305A can be from 19 to 111.76mm (0.75 to 4.4") wide.
The stationery is usually housed within the printer in rolls wound on 25.4mm (1") cores.
The maximum roll diameter is 127mm (5").
Alternatively the stationery can be fed in through a slot in the rear of the printer from external sources.
Some configurations come with the Media Guide Chute for external fan fold stationery.
This is also available as an accessory: - Media Guide Chute.
The External Media Supply clips onto the back of the printer and handles rolls of label media up to 25.4mm (10") in diameter.

Lastly the printer can be used with an External Label Rewinder/unwinder.

All printer configurations work with heat sensitive direct thermal (DT) label stationery.
The thermal transfer (TT) models work with non-heat sensitive label media but require a ribbon to print the label image.
The E-4305A has adjustable label sensors. The label media can be:
- Self-adhesive die-cut labels with gaps.
- Self-adhesive butt-cut labels without gaps and with under-printed black marks.
- Non-adhesive tags punched with holes or slots.
- Non-adhesive tags under-printed with black marks.
- Continuous stationery, for example receipt paper.
PRINTING ON THE LABEL STATIONERY
Most label printers tend to be used in conjunction with Label Printing Software packages.
A good example is the Datamax NETira Label Design software which is available free of charge with the printer.
Labelling software applications send commands in languages which are known to the printer.
If you wish you can use these printer languages directly.
The E-4305A printer automatically switches between Datamax DPL, Zebra ZPL and Zebra EPL.
The commands print the following:
TEXT
The printer uses CG Triumvirate which produces smooth scaleable characters.
It also has a range of alphanumeric fonts ranging from 2 to 6mm (0.08 to 0.25").
All fonts are expandable horizontally and vertically up to x24 and can be printed in 0, 90, 180 and 270 degree orientations.
ILPC CG Times is available as an option.
BARCODES
A wide range of 1D and 2D barcodes can be printed by the E-4305A printer.
GRAPHICS
The popular PCX, BMP and IMG graphics files can be used to load images into the label.
WHAT MEDIA HANDLING IS AVAILABLE?
The E-4305A printers offer the following choice of media handling methods:
TEAR-OFF
Some E-4305A printer configurations come with no special media handling and the batch of printed label media is torn off by pulling against the tear bar when complete.
DISPENSER
Some E-4305A printer configurations come with a label dispenser.
This allows the printing of single tags or self adhesive labels (with the backing intact) and also the dispensing of partly peeled self-adhesive labels.

CUTTER
Some E-4305A printer configurations come with a cutter.
This allows the cutting of label media into strips.
A Cutter Kit can be added as an accessory: - Cutter Kit.
LABEL MEDIA
The E-4305A direct thermal (DT) printer models can only print on DT label media.
The thermal transfer (TT) models can print on both DT and TT label media.
The label media can be inside wound or outside wound in roll form, or in fan folded format.
The printer can internally house rolls of labels which are on 25.4mm (1") cores with an outside diameter of up to 127mm (5").
In addition the printer can accept external stationery via the slot in the rear of the printer.
The label media can be from 19mm to 111.76mm (0.75" to 4.40") wide.
The maximum printable width is 4.16".
THERMAL TRANSFER RIBBONS
The E-4305A direct thermal (DT) models do not use ribbons.
The thermal transfer (TT) printer models require a ribbon to print on TT label media.
These ribbons can be either on 12.7mm (0.50") or 25.4mm (1") cores and can be inside or outside coated.
Both types of ribbon can be from 45mm to 110mm (1.77" to 4.33") in width.
The ribbons on the smaller cores are centre wound on 110mm (4.33") wide cores and the ribbon can be up to 110M in length.
The ribbons on the larger cores are wound on cores of the same width as the ribbon and centred in the printer using adaptor spools. The ribbon length can be up to 300M.
