GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Honeywell PC42d is a very simple 203dpi 110mm "4 inch" direct thermal printer.
There are no options for Peel-off or Cutting.
The maximum print speed is 152mm (6") per second and the maximum printable width is 104.1mm (4.1").
The printer has the following dimensions 222.5mm (8.8") x 184mm (7.3") x 174mm (6.9") (Lx W x H) and weighs 1.5kg (3.3lbs).
PRINTER LANGUAGES
The printer auto-senses and runs under Honeywell Direct Protocol or emulated ZPL and EPL.
FONTS AND BARCODES
The printers can print most 1D barcodes and Data Matrix, QR code, PDF417, Maxicode and Aztec 2D symbols.
INTERFACE OPTIONS
The printers come with USB 2.0 communications.
In addition some models also come factory fitted with Serial and Ethernet.
MEDIA HANDLING
The printer offers tear-off where the printed stationery is removed by pulling it against a tear bar.
The label media can be fed through a slot in the rear of the printer or internally housed as outside wound rolls up to 127mm (5") diameter on 25.4mm (1") or 38mm (1.5") cores.
LABEL SENSORS
The printers have a transmissive gap sensor which works with die-cut label stationery, and labels and tags punched with suitable holes.
The printers also have a reflective sensor for label stationery with black registration marks printed on the under surface.
MEMORY
The printer comes with 128MB Flash and 64MB SDRAM memory.
The Flash memory can be expanded up to 32GB by plugging a USB stick drive into the USB Host Port.
LABEL MEDIA
The Honeywell PC42d can only print on direct thermal (DT) label media. The label media must be outside wound and can be continuous, die-cut, black marked, fan-fold or notched.
The media width can be from 25.4 to 110mm (1 to 4.33") wide.
The minimum label length is 9.6mm (0.3").
When the label media is presented in rolls the outer diameter must not exceed 127mm (5") and the core size should be 25.4mm (1") or 38mm (1.5").

LABELS
PC42d printers work with direct thermal (DT) media which does not require a ribbon.

Honeywell is in the process of discontinuing the Intermec range of label media for desktop, mid-range and industrial printers and are not yet offering alternative products.
